Highland is pleased to announce the inclusion of the new Highland augmented reality experience as a permanent tour offering beginning July 25, 2018. This new tour is designed to supplement the existing guided tour. Visitors will witness conversations between individuals experiencing life at Highland in the year 1819, as well as learn about the archaeology and dendrochronology that led to the dramatic reinterpretation of the Highland landscape. A highlight of the new AR experience will be the digital rendering of the 1799 Monroe main house, lost to fire after Monroe sold the property.
The addition of the new augmented reality experience will slightly change the tour structure at Highland. The new AR experience will now be bundled with the guided tour. Visitors should now plan on a 90 minute tour experience. Beginning July 25, 2018, admission will now be $19 for adults, $13 for children 6-11, and free for children under six (the AR experience is not recommended for children under six). Guests who purchase the Monticello Neighborhood Pass or Highland Groupon may add the new AR experience at an additional charge.
