Virginia Festival of the Book at Highland

We are pleased to announce that Highland will host author and cidermaker Diane Flynt to discuss her book Wild, Tamed, Lost, Revived: The Surprising Story of Apples in the South on Sunday, March 24 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Flynt’s book tells a 200-year-old tale with anecdotes of U.S. presidents, Oregon Trail emigrants, and even Queen Victoria, while exploring the darker side of the orchard: the apple’s relationship to slavery and the theft of Indigenous people’s lands.
