Highland is pleased to offer three new specialty tours: Furnishing a New Nation, Rediscovering Highland, and Founding Friendships. These new specialty tours rotate daily and are offered at 2 and 4 p.m. Highland continues to offer the original Welcome to Highland tour daily.
Each of the three new specialty tours explores the Highland story through a unique lens. The Furnishing a New Nation tour takes a focused look at the historical significance of the Monroes’ original furnishings and explores the use of style in early American politics. Rediscovering Highland examines how the remains of Monroe’s 1799 home was uncovered using archaeology, architectural clues, and written accounts. Founding Friendships focuses on the relationship between Monroe and all of the founding presidents: George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and John Quincy Adams.
The new specialty tours are offered at 2 and 4 p.m. on the following days of the week:
Furnishing a New Nation: Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday
