One of the hallmarks of Highland is collaboration between staff and a Council of Descendant Advisors, made up of individuals who trace their African-American ancestors to Highland either during slavery or after the Civil War.
In response to discussions about why and how to begin descendant community collaboration, see this free microcourse presenting many community voices. https://plp.thinkific.com/courses/descendant-collaboration.
You can learn more about the Council elsewhere on our website. https://highland.org/descendant-advisors/.
