Highland Book Club: November Meeting

November 20, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Cover of The Cooking Gene book

Join us on Wednesday, November 20, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., for an evening of lively literary discussion at Highland, the home of President James Monroe. This event is FREE and open to the public.

During the November meeting of our book club, Highland guide Emily Stanfill will lead the group in discussion of The Cooking Gene, by Michael W. Twitty.

Amistad Press writes “A renowned culinary historian offers a fresh perspective on our most divisive cultural issue, race, in this illuminating memoir of Southern cuisine and food culture that traces his ancestry—both black and white—through food, from Africa to America and slavery to freedom.”

Guests can sign up for one, two, or all three of the fall Highland Book Club meetings. To RSVP for this FREE event, click on the link below or email museumshop@highland.org.
