SUMMARY:Albemarle County Fair at Highland
DESCRIPTION:The Albemarle County Fair is scheduled from Thursday\, July 26 through Saturday\, July 28 on the grounds of Highland. Fair hours will be 4 to 9 pm on Thursday\, July 26\, and 10am to 9pm on Friday and Saturday\, July 27 and 28. Tickets are $5 per person and free for children under 6 years of age. \nThis fun and festive “Old-Time Country Fair” will be a three-day agricultural celebration\, complete with exhibits\, baked goods\, crafts\, family entertainment\, events\, livestock\, and grand old-time country fun. In addition to this year’s attractions\, the fair\, in collaboration with James Monroe’s Highland\, will offer demonstrations of historic and cultural significance\, including a blacksmith\, wool spinning and weaving\, and a reproduction button maker. \nThe Albemarle County Fair Board thanks the community for their interest and continued support and looks forward to sharing and celebrating the best of our rich and lively agricultural community at this year’s fair at James Monroe’s Highland. \nJames Monroe’s Highland does not permit pets on the property. Musical seeds of faith and family were planted in rich\, melodious soil for Country Music Recording Artist Tommy Wood. To date\, Tommy has recorded five albums with heartfelt country songs that can be heard by the whole family\, filled with words that will forever soak into your ears and heart. Tommy has performed hundreds of shows on the east coast and mid-west including sharing the stage with many National acts. Tommy recently landed a spot on the Shenandoah Jamboree show at Cooter’s in Luray. His biggest influences come from Haggard and Jones to Daryle Singletary. Tommy’s fans regard him as a balladeer and certified down-home country singer. \n\nFriday 7/27\n\n\nFriday\, July 27\nVirginia Ramblers\n6:00-9:00\n The Virginia Ramblers are a traditional bluegrass band based out of central Virginia\, in the Charlottesville area.  We honor the legends of bluegrass\, such as Jimmy Martin and the Stanley Brothers\, and strive to carry on in that tradition.  A band of bluegrass veterans\, we focus on rich\, vocal harmony and strong instrumentation.  We perform secular and gospel bluegrass\, with some original tunes. \n\nSaturday 7/28\n\n\nSaturday\, July 28\nRocky Hill Bluegrass\n6:00-9:00\nRocky Hill Bluegrass is a Central Virginia Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel Band playing traditional music with inspiration from the founders of Bluegrass music as well as from a few slightly newer bluegrass artists. We really like the old music and that is reflected in our performances. We strive to be the best young bluegrass band in our area with sibling harmonies\, driving lively traditional bluegrass music\, and entertaining performances! \n\n\n\n  \n\n\n  \n
