SUMMARY:Albemarle County Fair at Highland
DESCRIPTION:The Albemarle County Fair is scheduled from Thursday\, July 25 through Saturday\, July 27 on the grounds of Highland. Fair hours will be 4 to 9 pm on Thursday\, July 25\, and 10am to 9pm on Friday and Saturday\, July 26 and 27. Tickets are $5 per person and free for children under 6 years of age. \nThis fun and festive “Old-Time Country Fair” will be a three-day agricultural celebration\, complete with exhibits\, baked goods\, crafts\, family entertainment\, events\, livestock\, and grand old-time country fun. In addition to this year’s attractions\, the fair\, in collaboration with James Monroe’s Highland\, will offer demonstrations of historic and cultural significance\, including a blacksmith\, wool spinning and weaving\, and a reproduction button maker. \nThe Albemarle County Fair Board thanks the community for their interest and continued support and looks forward to sharing and celebrating the best of our rich and lively agricultural community at this year’s fair at James Monroe’s Highland. \nJames Monroe’s Highland does not permit pets on the property. He is a classic country fanatic who respects and appreciates all the “ Hillbilly Heros.” Some of Brandon’s favorite artists include; Hank Williams Sr.\, Ernest Tubb\, Bob Wills\, Jimmie Rodgers\, Terry Fell\, and Joe Carson just to name a few. He plays his music with the same passion and pride that his heroes did 60+ years ago. Charlie “T. Texas” Taylor\, like many great fiddlers\, hails from the great state of Texas. He prides himself on playing with “down to earth\, grits ‘n’ gravy” style fiddling that radiates an authentic “Hillbilly” style. Slapping the big bass fiddle is Matias Camino. Hailing from Buenos Aires\, Argentina Matias fell into the Rockabilly crowd at an early age and honed his craft playing in the bars and clubs of Argentina. He has played “Viva Las Vegas: Rockabilly Weekender” twice and has toured all across the United States. They honor the legends of bluegrass\, such as Jimmy Martin and the Stanley Brothers\, and strive to carry on in that tradition. As a band of bluegrass veterans\, they focus on rich\, vocal harmony and strong instrumentation. The Ramblers perform secular and gospel bluegrass\, along with some original tunes. \n\n\n\n  \n
